Tivoli Gardens: Visiting the Magical Inspiration Behind Walt Disney's Dreamland

While in Copenhagen, we enjoyed 2 evenings at Tivoli Gardens. Although it is right in the middle of the city, we felt worlds away when we stepped through Tivoli's gates. As Disney fans, we were eager to visit this theme park, the only one we've visited in Europe. We originally planned on one night in the park but our kids loved it and wanted to return for a second. It is easy to reach the park from anywhere in the city so it was no trouble to spend more time here.

The reason Tivoli is special to Disney fans is because Walt Disney was inspired by this place. During his visit to Tivoli, Walt was impressed with its

unique blend of gardens, architecture, amusement rides, restaurants and shows, igniting a spark within him that would shape the future of amusement parks worldwide. After visiting, I am convinced that Tivoli influenced Walt's parks.

Tivoli reminded us of a combination of Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Tivoli has thrill rides and kiddie rides as well as dark rides reminiscent of Disneyland and Disney World. Even the trash cans reminded us of Disney Parks! Restaurants with international flare cold be found around every corner and the beautiful landscaping and lighting lended to the magical atmosphere. Nightly concerts are included with admission. You can purchase basic admission which includes no rides or full admission with unlimited rides. It is possible purchase rides on an individual basis if you only want to ride a few things. Basic admission is also included the Copenhagen Card. I highly recommend a visit to Tivoli, even if rides aren't your thing as it is a great place to walk around, eat, drink and people watch in a beautiful atmosphere.
